Climate Smart Business
As part of our ongoing commitment to the environment, Digitech became involved with the Climate Smart program and became certified as a Climate Smart Business in 2010.
Climate Smart helps businesses and non-profits learn how to measure and reduce their carbon footprints. Their unique training program incorporates classroom learning, web-based software, and one-on-one support. Rather than working through consultants, they provide the tools and knowledge to tackle greenhouse gas management in-house. The brilliance of Climate Smart is they've taken a number of complex global standards and simplified the entire program into a three-step process:
- Measure: Learn how to calculate your carbon footprint, or greenhouse gas inventory. Plus, map your business operations to identify where your emissions occur and learn how to collect data from those business activities and use our software to do the calculations.
- Reduce: Develop strategies to reduce your emissions helping you figure out which ones will work best to cut your emissions and save you money.
- Leverage: Learn how to build buy-in for your reduction initiatives among your staff, and how to talk about your accomplishments authentically in your marketing materials.
Further, Climate Smart reviews each members' work to make sure it’s perfect before getting approval to use the Climate Smart seal.
