Debunking The Myths About Remanufactured Printer Cartridges

Posted by Chad on September 9, 2008 under Printer Cartridge |

The remanufactured printing industry has been around a long time. However, even though remanufactured printer cartridges have proven to be more affordable and better for the environment, many consumers continue to purchase new cartridges from the original equipment manufacturer (OEM).

The fact is, the average consumer is uneducated when it comes to remanufactured or refurbished products - whether it’s a digital camera, iPod, or printer cartridge. Many people look at remanufactured printer cartridges as being old, used, or broken - but that couldn’t be further from the truth!

In fact, before they are ever sold to an end-user, Digitech’s remanufactured printer cartridges undergo more extensive testing than new ones to make sure the cartridges are of the highest quality before they are ever released! With that said, there are still three major myths that consumers believe when it comes to remanufactured printer cartridges…

Myth #1 - Remanufactured printer cartridges aren’t equal in quality.

While some printer cartridge remanufacturers don’t produce high quality cartridges, this general statement cannot be blanketed across the entire industry. In the same way some printer companies don’t create great machines, some remanufacturers don’t deliver high quality products. But other remanufacturers do!

At Digitech, we are so confident in our product that we offer our clients a 1-year warranty on every cartridge we sell. If there is any problem with our cartridge, we will replace it free of charge! If you want to find out why we can be so confident about our catridges, click here to find out how we make them!

Myth #2 - Remanufactured printer cartridges could ruin my warranty.

When remanufactured printer cartridges started to make a serious impact in the printing industry, the printer manufacturers threatened to void warranties for anybody who used these cartridges. But according to the Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act, it is illegal for printer companies to void a warranty based on what type of printer cartridge you choose to use.

Digitech goes beyond the call of duty to ensure your printer lasts as long as possible. We have developed a Superior Performance Plan (SPP) to make sure your printer is always working as smoothly as possible. Our plan not only extends the life of your printer, but also reduces down time and lowers your maintenance costs. Click here to find out more about the SPP.

Myth #3 - Remanufactured printer cartridges have lower printing yields.

There are a number of factors that play a role in a printer cartridges yield. The standard yield for ink and toner cartridges is measured at 5% coverage. If you are printing pictures, web pages, or graphics of any kind then your yield will be significantly lower than you may have expected regardless of whether you are using a new cartridge or a remanufactured one.

At Digitech, we encourage our clients to keep track of their cartridges yield so they can be sure our products are living up to expectations. We know that an empty cartridge is never a good thing - and throughout our extensive testing we have found that our printer cartridges consistently perform as well as or better than new ones.

It is unfortunate that so many people believe these three myths to be true. The printer cartridge remanufacturing industry has come a long way since the days of “drill and fill”. In fact, with years of perfecting the art of remanufacturing, Digitech is proud to say that our printer cartridges are better in quality that OEMs and sure to exceed your expectations.

If you are in Vancouver, the Lower Mainland, or Kelowna then we encourage you to give us a call. You can save money and help the environment by choosing our high quality remanufactured printer cartridges!
